SATme Installation
We strongly encourage people to first install the demo version of the software available on this website. In addition to letting you try out a fully functional piece of software for a while, it will also make sure that you know the idiosyncrasies of installing a java application on your particular device. You will also be able to see if your phone meets the requirements. Should you desire to purchase the licensed version of the software you will be able to install it easily.
Loading software on mobile devices tends to be specific not only to the model of phone, but also to the service provider. Most service providers restrict the capabilities of third party software. For example, many phones claim to support the "Location Based Services", but that is only true for applications that have special agreements with the service provider to sell 100,000 units/year, etc. The spectrum of service providers just in the United States alone runs from those that allow any third party software to run unrestricted to those that on don't allow any software to be installed except through their own company store.
General Guide to Installing SATme
Over-The-Air (OTA)
Try installing from your phone/PDA's web browser. This can be done by "clicking" the link to the JAD file. Many phone's know what to do with this and will download and install the program automatically. This is true with most "branded" phones on the Sprint/Nextel network.
USB/Bluetooth/File transfer
You may also download the JAD and JAR files to your local computer and then upload them to you device by some other means (e.g., Bluetooth, USB). (Most browsers will give you the option of saving the file if you right-click the link). You will probably need to load both the JAD and the JAR file, though some systems may only require the JAR file.
J9/IBM Runtime Environments
Some phone/PDA's have specific containers for java applications. For example, Palm OS devices often have a runtime environment that first requires you to start the environment and then install the application from a menu. In this case you can enter the URL of the JAD file (or possibly the JAR) to install SATme. If you do not have a Java environment on your Palm device, IBM supplies one that is either free or available for you device for a very small fee.
Entering the password
The first time you run SATme you will be prompted for a password. The password for the demo version is "123". If you ordered the registered version you will be supplied with your own password by email along with the web address from which to download the software. Once you enter this password you will not need to enter it again.
